Lace Exhibition

24th October – 31st December 2014 

The museum hosts the Lace Exhibition from Sotiris S. Mestanas’ collection. The ambassador of Italy, Mr. Guido Cerboni will inaugurate the exhibition on Friday, 24st October at 7:00 p.m. In addition there will be a presentation of the book “A Legacy of Lace’ written by Gregory Mestanas and a workshop related to the Athienou Lace by the Konstantinelenio Adult Centre. 


The education at the Elementary School from the past to the present
15th May – 16th June 2014

As part of the celebrations organized for the International Museum Day the Museum and the Athienou A' Elementary School invite you to the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition 'The education at the Elementary School from the past to the present'.

Thursday, 15th May at 10:00 a.m.

The inauguration ceremony is under the auspices of the Chief Education Officer Ms. Anna Violari.


 Caricature Exhibition under the theme ‘Cyprus Proverbs’
8th – 30th April 2014

The Municipality of Athienou and the Second Elementary School of Athienou present the Caricature Exhibition under the theme ‘Cyprus Proverbs’. As part of their art activities, the sixth grade students have created Caricatures which reflect people’s wisdom, inspired by Cyprus proverbs.

Group Exhibition by the Students of Athienou-Adult-Education Centre

The students of the Adult-Education Painting, Icon Painting and Cooking Centre of Athienou exhibit their work in a group exhibition on Tuesday, 11th of June 2013, at 8:00p.m.


Art Exhibition by Children

The Kallinikeio Municipal Museum of Athienou celebrates the International Museum Day. This year’s theme is Museums (memory + creativity = social change).'

The participating children and the Museum invite you to the Art Exhibition which runs from Saturday 18th of May 2013, at 5:00 – 7:00p.m.

The children’s works of art and the theatre of the program ‘The Flour Mill and the bread of Athienou’ were created by the children who participated in the educational programs during Easter holidays.

The Kallinikeio Municipal Museum of Athienou and the Adult-Education Painting Centre of Athienou cordially invite you to the Art Exhibition by the Students of Adult-Education Painting Centre on the International Museum Day, 18th May 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
The inauguration ceremony of the exhibition is performed by the Director of the Adult-Education Centres of Larnaca and Amohostos Mr. Panayiotis Stavrinos.


Painting the Virtues of Spring
10th – 14th May, 2012

The children of the Government Nursery of Athienou under the guidance of their teachers paint ‘The Virtues of Spring’ and present a colourful and promising exhibition at the Kallinikeio Municipal Museum of Athienou.

The inauguration ceremony is performed by the mayor of Athienou Mr. Papapetrou on Thursday 10th May 2012 at 9:00 a.m. The First Senior Officer of the Ministry of Education and Culture Ms. Catsioloudi will address the exhibition. The children will participate in the programme with songs and poems.


A Trip to Byzantine Art
23rd February – 27th April 2012

The Head of Primary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Kallinikeio Municipal Museum of Athienou in corporation with the Byzantine Museum Archbishop Makarios III invite you to the opening of the exhibition A Trip to Byzantine Art, on Thursday 23rd of February 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Displayed at the exhibition are works of art made by students who participated at the educational programme at the Byzantine Museum during the school years 2010-11 and 2011-12 and works of art of the Archive - Children’s Art Museum of the Primary Education.

The inauguration ceremony is under the auspices of the honourable Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Giorgos Demosthenous.


Icon painting and mosaic exhibition in memory of Father Kallinikos Stavrovouniotis and Alkis Kepolas
1st December 2011 – 24 January 2012

In memory of Father Kallinikos Stavrovouniotis and Alkis Kepolas who served the Byzantine Art with love and devotion, the Museum organizes an exhibition in which several icon painters and mosaic artists participate. The inauguration ceremony is performed by the Metropolitan Bishop of Paphos Mr. Georgios, on Thursday 1st December 2011, at 7:00 p.m.


Photo Exhibition Trip to Kenya
3rd – 19th November 2011

The exhibition is presenting the trip to Kenya that was fulfilled on August 2011 by a group of volunteers from Athienou. The group invites everybody to share their experiences and living encounters with Maasai people, and at the same time to inform about the use of the money, food supplies, clothing, medicine and many other goods, of which many people of Athienou graciously and wholeheartedly offered. The exhibition includes a variety of pictures of which they touch the souls of many young adult, expressing a big thank you from the hearts of the young children and Father Tito.

Art Exhibition by Antroulla Ellina

Amateur painter Mrs. Antroulla Ellina lovingly sets her works at the Museum, this way creating a charitable Art Exhibition.


Where the Present Meets the Past
18th May – 25th June 2011

This year’s theme of the International Museum Day, Museum and Memory, has been the starting point for the exhibition titled Where the Present Meets the Past. The exhibits testify that the museum objects constitute a source of inspiration for the children, while they also constitute a source of awakening memories for adults.


Pancyprian Exhibition of Ceramic Art
9th – 31st July 2010

Larnaca, Lemesos, Lefkosia: three stops from which works of ceramic art are collected, travelled and set in the events’ hall of the Museum to be admired by hundreds of visitors. This exhibition accompanies the Ceramic Art Festival organized by the Municipality of Athienou in cooperation with the Cyprus Cultural Association “Anatropi”. The inauguration ceremony of the exhibition is performed by the First Lady Mrs. Elsi Christofia.


Exhibition of Painting and Mosaic Works of Art

Artist Costas Constantinou Mavrou and the students of the Adult-Education Painting and Mosaic Centre present their works. The inauguration ceremony of the exhibition is performed by the Director of the Adult-Education Centres of Larnaca Mr. Panayiotis Stavrinos.


Painting for World Cultures
16th – 26th May, 2010

Within the line of the celebrations organised for the International Museum Day, which is on the 18th of May, the Museum holds an exhibition of works of art created by children who participate in the events and who are between the ages of 5 to 13 years old.


Exhibition of Works of Art created by Artists originating from Athienou
10th – 24th July, 2009

The first periodic Exhibition of Works of Art created by artists originating from Athienou is held successfully at the specially configured hall of the Museum. Displayed in this first exhibition are paintings, mosaics, icon paintings and ceramic works of art created by both professional and amateur artists of all ages. The inauguration ceremony is performed by the honourable Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Andreas Demetriou.
